5. Walker Creek
If you’re looking to escape the crowds and enjoy some solitude in nature, Walker Creek is the place to be. This picturesque spot is perfect for a leisurely hike, with a well-maintained walking track that meanders along the creek. Along the way, you can find several secluded campsites (tent or swag only), making it an ideal location for an overnight stay under the stars.
Highlights:
- Walking Trail: The Walker Creek Trail is an easy 3.5km return walk that takes you along the creek, past several scenic spots that are ideal for a quick dip.
- Swimming: Cool off in the crystal-clear waters of the creek.
- Camping Spots: There are seven secluded tent camping sites along the creek, each offering a peaceful retreat surrounded by nature.
Tip: Campers need to carry all their gear in, so pack light and be prepared for a short hike to your campsite.
4. Florence Falls
Florence Falls is one of Litchfield’s most iconic attractions and throughout time has been regarded as a spiritual place. With its stunning twin waterfalls cascading into a deep plunge pool, and towering ferns and palm trees, this is a dream location.
Highlights:
- Viewing Platform: Start your visit at the viewing platform above the falls for a breathtaking panoramic view.
- Swimming: The plunge pool at the base of Florence Falls is perfect for a refreshing swim.
- Shady Picnic Area: Nearby, you’ll find shaded picnic spots where you can relax and enjoy a meal amidst the lush surroundings.
Tip: Take the 160 step staircase to reach the base of the falls or opt for the 1km monsoon walk from the car park.
3. Buley Rockhole
For a more laid-back but equally enjoyable experience, Buley Rockhole is a must-visit. This series of cascading rock pools is ideal for both relaxation and fun and is perfect for families with smaller children.

- Multiple Pools: With numerous rock pools varying in depth, Buley Rockhole offers options for everyone, from shallow wading areas to deeper pools for swimming.

2. Wangi Falls
Wangi Falls is one of the most popular destinations in Litchfield National Park, and for good reason. This impressive waterfall offers a large plunge pool, picnic facilities, and walking trails, making it a great spot for a day trip.
Highlights:
- Swimming (seasonal): The large plunge pool beneath the falls is a great spot to cool off and is the most accessible swimming hole in the national park (always check signage for safe swimming conditions before entering the water).
- Walking Tracks: Explore the short loop walk through the rainforest or take on the 1.6km Wangi Falls Walk for a view from the escarpment.
- Facilities: Wangi Falls has excellent facilities, including a kiosk open daily during the dry season, a large shaded grassy area, picnic tables, new bathroom facilities and barbecues.
Tip: Head down late in the afternoon to avoid the crowds and take in the stunning colours at sunset, as the fading light reflects off the rocks and on to the water.
1. Greenant Creek
Greenant Creek may not be as well-known as some of the other spots in Litchfield National Park, but it offers a rewarding experience for those willing to explore. The highlight is Tjaetaba Falls, which can be reached via a moderate hike along Greenant Creek.
Highlights:
- Tjaetaba Falls: The 3.4km return hike along Greenant Creek leads to Tjaetaba Falls, a stunning and secluded waterfall.
- Swimming: Enjoy a swim in the plunge pool at the top of the falls—an idyllic spot often less crowded than other locations in the park.
- Scenic Views: The trail offers fantastic views of the surrounding landscapes, making it perfect for nature photography.
Tip: The hike is moderately challenging, so ensure you have appropriate footwear and carry plenty of water.
Where to Stay
Litchfield Safari Camp

It’s important to note that there is no rubbish collection point anywhere within the national park or at Litchfield Safari Camp, so you must manage your waste and take it with you when you leave.
